What is an actual alarm?

An attempt to enter a facility without prior authentication or established procedure

What is a false alarm?

The alarm activates for an unknown reason. Two false alarms in a 24 hour period deem a system inoperative and requires a work order be opened

What is a nuisance alarm?

Alarm activation due to something the system was designed to detect such as a blowing fan or rodent. Three nuisance alarms in a 24 hour period require a work order be opened.

What is a maintenance alarm?

Maintenance personnel caused the alarm performing authorized work

What is an authorized entry?

Personnel entered the facility after completing all required steps for entry

What is a test?

Owner/user or ESS NCO caused the alarm and is authorized

What are the procedures for opening/closing of alarmed facilities, alarm activations, and alarm system tests?

The owner/user will give the following information to the AM: Card #, Building/Room to be accessed/secured, Name, Rank, Last 4 digits of Social Security Number. Once the AM has verified the information, they will pass a number within 10 of the primary access code. The owner/User will respond with a number that equals the primary code. Example: If the primary access code is 60 and the alarm monitor passes a 52 the owner/user should respond with 8

Pass them the alternate code

This alarm detects movement within the alarmed facility by detecting differences in light. Motion detection

What is Passive ultrasonic?

Volume or sound detection. This alarm detects sound within or in close proximity the alarmed facility

Its a duress pedal. This alarm is activated by physically lifting/pressing the duress petal

What is a portable duress actuator?

This alarm is activated by pushing the button on the PDA. This alarm is normally used for personnel in an alarmed structure that need to move around and are not stationary

What is a Corby keypad?

Three consecutive incorrect attempts when entering a pin number will generate an alarm. If owner/user begin to enter the wrong pin but have not pushed four digits have them enter the remaining digits. If it is not known how many digits were entered wait one minute and begin the process over

What is keypad duress?

This alarm is activated by pressing the * and # symbol on the keypad at the facility. This duress alarm is used to secretly notify Security Forces of a duress situation by allowing the alarm custodian to enter their code and have the keypad go from red to green as it normally would

In concrete and asphalt the cable is designed to be installed approximately 2 inches deep; in soil, the cable is installed at a greater depth

What is Video image control and display system (VICADS)?

It is primarily used for immediate visual assessment (IVA). When an alarm is associated with a video device and the alarm is activated, the live camera video is displayed. Also displayed is an alarm clip that displays recorded video before and after the actual alarm. The times prior to and after the alarm are set to 5 seconds
