How do you determine weather you are up against a TAG or a LAG preflop?
TAG pattern= Raise or fold.
LAG pattern=Raise, raise or raise, limp
What is a TAG's preflop raising frequency generally and how should you adjust to this frequency?
A TAG generally raises very aggressively starting at about 70% preflop. A good idea is to 3bet them with a mixed range occasionally to take advantage of their raise/folding.
What can you do to take advantage of a TAG postflop?
-Bet anytime they check
-Occasionally c/r dry boards.
-Cbet the same boards as against the tight passive player.
-Bet when they check behind
-Float out of position.
What does a LAG do when facing a minimum bet postflop?
He raises it frequently.
What will a LAG do in a limped pot postflop generally?
A LAG will frequently attack limped pots postflop.
Is it reasonable to assume that a LAG will make a fair amount of overbets?
LAGs will sometimes make large overbets postflop.
How often does a LAG cbet the flop after raising preflop? What should you be thinking if he fails to continuation bet?
A LAG nearly always continuation bets the flop after having raised preflop. If he doesn't, watch out!, he may have a monster.
Describe how a LAG will often bet on the flop, turn and river postflop?
A LAG will often "Ram" postflop by making pot size bets on the flop, turn, and river.
How often should you expect a LAG to be bluffing rivers?
A LAG will frequently bluff rivers.
How often should you limp junk preflop vs a LAG? Why?
Do not limp junk preflop vs a LAG because they love to attack limps.
What type of hands should you limp vs a LAG and why?
You should limp hands you would happily play in a raised but not reraised pot since they are often raising limps.
What should your limping range look like vs a LAG?
Vs a LAG, limp hands like: suited connectors @ low blinds, broadways, low-mid pocket pairs, A2s-AJs, A8o-AJo.
What should you do with hands like TT, JJ, QQ, KK, AA vs a LAG preflop?
You should limp raise if you think they will attack your limps.
What should you do with hands like AK and AQ preflop vs a LAG?
You should limp and flat or limp and shove if you think they will look you up with worse.
What should your preflop raising range look like vs a LAG at lower blinds?
A2-A7o, K9, Q9, T9, K8s, Q8s, J8s, T8s.
At medium blinds(15-40bb), what does your range look like and what do you do with various parts of that range vs a LAG? What can we no longer limp/call?
-don't limpcall suited connectors
-raise broadways, 22-66, and A2-A9
-limp/shove 77-JJ, AT-AK
At high blinds(8-15bb), what does your range look like and what do you do with various parts of that range vs a LAG?
-raise broadways
-open shove 22-66, A2-A7
-limp/shove 77-JJ, A8-AK
-limp/reraise QQ, KK, AA
What should you do if a LAG raises his buttons but is passive in his big blind? Why?
If a LAG is passive on the big blinds you can limp a wider range and raise hands like 88,99, A9-AJ, KQ, KJ, AT and TT+ because he is not raising hands for us, we want to raise better hands for value to know where we are at postflop and play a big pot, with a good hand, in position.
What should you do if a LAG likes to 3bet preflop raises?
If a LAG likes to 3bet preflop raises only raise with premium hands.
What should you do with respect to 4betting if a LAG likes to 3bet at lower blind levels?
4bet: TT, JJ, QQ, KK, AA
Shove: AK, AQ
As far as 4betting goes, what should you do at higher blind levels vs a 3betting LAG?
4bet: QQ, KK, AA
4bet shove: 77,88,99,TT, JJ, AK, AQ
What can you sometimes do to get value from a LAG if you have raised preflop and have a strong hand hand postflop?
You can sometimes act weak postflop to induce action with a strong hand. (Injured fish play.)
If you have a strong hand on the flop vs a LAG and he bets into you what's a good way to go about getting the money in?
Often an immediate raise will illicit a shove vs a LAG when he has half a hand on the flop. Often times he will at least call when he would have shut down on the turn if his hand didn't improve.
What can you do to get extra value from a LAG if you've been betting a strong hand?
Sometimes you can check a river against a LAG to induce bluffs from missed draws and air.
Should you call down light vs a LAG? Why?
Yes, you should call down light vs a LAG occasionally since his range is weaker on average and he has more bluffs and semi-bluffs in his range.
What can you determine by paying attention to betsizing vs a LAG?
By paying attention to betsizing you can determine how he bets for value or as a bluff, what his overbets mean, what his small bets mean, what his potsize bets mean, and what it means if he doesn't bet. Finally you can put it all together to see if the story he's telling with his betsizing adds up.
