Retina

A layer at the back of the eyeball that contains cells sensitive to light, which trigger electrochemical nerve impulses that pass vis the optic nerve to the brain, where a visual image is formed.

Pupil

The apparently circular opening in the centre of the Irish of the eye, through which light passes to the retina.

Optic Nerve

Each of the second pair of the cranial nerves, transmitting impulses to the brain from the retina at the back or the eye.
