Alphanumeric data
A combination of #'s & text that you can enter into a field.
AutoNumber
A field that automatically adds a unique # to the primary key field for each record in the table.
Blank Database Template
Creates a database with an empty table in it.
Data Type
Determines the kind of data that you can enter in the field, sucj as #'s or text, or a combination of both.
Default Value Property
Enters the same field value in a field every time a new record is added to the table.
Description Property
can be used to describe what to enter in a field.
Design Grid
The top half of a Table; shows field names & data types.
Design View
You can add, delete, & make changes to the way that fields store data.
Field Properties Pane
The bottom half of a Table; shows properties of a field.
Field Property
Decribes a field's contents beyond the field's basic data type, such as the # of characters the field can store.
Field Size Property
Sets the # of characters you can store in a Text, #, or AutoNumber field. ex) for Text fields the default value is 255 characters.
Format Property
Used to specify how you want Access to display #'s, dates, times, & text.
Primary Key
The field that contains a unique field value for each record in the table.
Required Property
Specifies whether you must enter a field value in a record. ex) in an employee database you can set a required property for phone to a yes so that you must enter a record for each employee.
Template
Predesigned database with one or more table, query, form, & report.
