What is 'Big Society?

Big society is a concept developed mostly by David Cameron and the Conservative Party. It's the idea that many functions of the state should be replaced by local activism (e.g free schools)

What is 'Citizenship'?

Citizenship is the idea that people belonging to a particular political community/society have certain rights and freedoms with respect to political institutions. Citizenship implies that citizens are obliged to contribute to society e.g paying taxes, military service, taking part in politics.


Also implies that people have the right to live within a particular state and thus can enjoy all the freedoms and benefits of living in that area.
