when front parking brake is engaged, what should you remember?
engine should be engaged.
Transfer valve policy
Pump in PRESSURE for flows up to two-thirds (2/3) pump capacity unless the pump cannot produce the necessary GPM flow. For GPM flows greater than two-thirds (2/3) pump capacity, pump in VOLUME.
pony pump max psi
130 psi
what rpm should you throttle to when priming?
Increase throttle to 1000 RPM. (It is not MANDATORY to increase RPM since our Pierce engines are equipped with electric primers that will work as long as the battery switch is ON. However, increasing the RPM will lessen the strain on the electric system.)
priming pump max times
Type IV Patrols: 30 seconds

Type III Engines: 30 seconds

Older Pierce Type I Engines: 45 seconds

Pierce Arrow XT Type I Engines: 60 seconds
3% foam yields how much finished foam
3% setting: Pump for 7 min = 700 gallons foam solution = 5600 gallons finished foam
6% foam yields how much finished foam
6% setting: Pump for 3 min, 30 sec = 350 gallons foam solution = 2800 gallons finished foam
How often do you reapply foam?
reapplied every 10 minutes to maintain the vapor seal.
husky foam system stats:
hydraulic pump,
25 gallon class A foam tank which is built into the main water tank

4 gallon hydraulic oil reservoir, with level/temp gauge, and a shut off valve underneath
Ideal placement of strainer for drafting
strainer remains 2 feet below the surface and have 2 feet of water around it at all times in any direction
