Northern Pacific Railroad Company
Built a rail road along the northern route. They were given the largest grant ever given to a rail road.

The nick name for the railroad called St Paul, Minnesota, and Manitoba.
Farmers Grain and Shipping Company
The company built a railroad and because of the name, many people thought it was owned by farmers. But really James J. Hill owned controlled the stock.
Midland Continental Railroad
Had a big plan to build a railroad from Canada to Texas. But it only completed tracks from Edgeley to Wimbledon.
Soo Line
Railroad built in 1870s to supply the Dakota Prairie goods from Minneapolis and deliver spring wheat to Minnesota Mills.

A railroad line from Fargo to Edgeley.

Spring Wheat
The kind of wheat that could be grown in the northern climate. Planted in the spring and harvested in the fall. Initially sold at a lower price because it was yellowish in color due to bran and was more difficult to mill.
Minnesota patent
A milling process that produced flour from spring wheat was even better than the flour from winter wheat.

Oliver Dalrymple
Hired by Northern Pacific Railroad to manage their farming operations. Came to be know as the "Wheat King".

Huidekoper and Eaton formed this company. They bought up Railroad land and raised cattle. This company had one of the finest herds in the country.

The ranch that Theodore Roosevelt bought.

A french man who built a packing plant in Medora.
Bell Telephone Company
Brought phones to cities.
Medora Von Hoffman
Daughter of a New York baner who married Marquis de More's. Medora was named after her.
