30 DEGREES NORTH TO 30 DEGREES SOUTH
The temperatures change little from season to season. Tropical climate separated into 2 regions. The regions are TROPICAL RAIN FOREST AND TROPICAL SAVANNA.
TROPICAL RAIN FOREST
Growing season lasts year long. Rain and heat produce lush vegetation. Millions of plants and animals. Tall hardwoods like teak and mahogany found here.
TROPICAL SAVANNA
Two seasons- wet and dry. Rain falls during the wet season. The rest of the year is hot and dry.
30 DEGREES NORTH TO 60 DEGREES NORTH AND 30 DEGREES SOUTH TO 60 DEGREES SOUTH
Most of the world's people live there. There is a greater variety of climate than any other region (a mix). The temperature changes with the season.
MARINE WEST COAST
Coastal areas where winds blow from the ocean. The winters are rainy and mild. The summers are cool.
MEDITERRANEAN CLIMATE
This has mildy, rainy winters and hot, dry summers.
HUMID CONTINENTAL
This is an area far from the ocean. It has long, cold, snowy winters. It also has short, hot summers.
HUMID SUBTROPICAL
The rain falls throughout the year. The winter is short and mild.
60 DEGREES NORTH TO NORTH POLE AND 60 DEGREES SOUTH TO SOUTH POLE
The climates in these regions are cold.
SUB ARCTIC
This is just below arctic circle. There are cold, bitter winters. It gets above freezing in the summer. There are huge evergreen trees.
TUNDRA
This is harsh and dry. It is a rolling plain without trees. There are sturdy grasses and small berry bushes. The PERMAFROST stays permanently frozen.
DRY CLIMATES
This area receives little or no rain. It is hot during the day. It is cold at night.
DESERT
There is less than 10 inches of rain a year. There are scattered plants with roots close to the surface (so the roots can suck up any surface water).
STEPPE CLIMATE
Here there is 10 to 20 inches of rain a year. There are bushes and short grasses.
