rate

a comparison of the measurements of two different units or things


ratio

a comparison of two quantities that tells the scale between them (example: Females to males in a math class is 14 to 12, or 7 to 6; also written 7:6 or 7/6)


dependent

the outcome of this event is affected by the outcome of a first event


scale

the number a ratio is multiplied by to find an equivalent ratio


denominator

in a fraction, the number that is on the bottom


unit rate

the unit rate compares an amount to ONE unit


compare

to show how two or more things are alike and diffferent


decimal

a percent can be expressed as afraction or as a DECIMAL


variable

a VARIABLE is something that can change and be counted or measured
