Migration
Migration is the preferred method of replacing an existing server. You can migrate from any version from Windows Server 2003R2 to Windows Server 2012. You can migrate between platforms, editions and physical\virtual instances.
Migration pre-requisites
Install Windows server migration tools on server running 2012. Then copy an appropriate version of the tools to the source server.
