Temperature
A measurement of how hot or cold something is. It is a measure of how fast the particles in a material are moving.
Sublimation
Occurs when a substance changes directly from a solid to a gas without going through a liquid state.
Plasma
Rare on earth, because it requires such a high temperature. State of matter with so much energy that some or even all of the electrons have separated from the nuclei.
Melting point
The temperature at which the solid melts to become a liquid.
Freezing point
The temperature at which a liquid freezes . An substances melting point is the same as its freezing point.
Boiling point
The temperature at which a liquid becomes a gas. Occurs when a liquid reaches a temperature at which bubbles of gas forms rapidly throughout the liquid.
Vaporization
The process by which a liquid changes to a gas. Reaching the boiling point of a liquid causes vaporization to occur.
Pressure
The force exerted by the gas. Increasing pressure on a gas decreases the volume.
Temperature and Volume
Gases contract when they cool.they also expand when they heat.
Physical Change
Altering the size, shape, or state without forming a new subject.
Dissolve
The process that occurs when the molecules of a solid move apart and are separated by the molecules of a liquid. Heat usually speeds up the process.
