Background: In 1919 World War 1 just ended by the treaty of Versailles. Then a new Ku Klux Klan emerged in the early 1920s.

Thesis: the 1920’s is noted as a decade of hedonism and liberation, anxiety and intolerance. Topic 1: In some way the 1920s is a decade of anxiety and intolerance. With Intolerance towards the immigrants, and blacks caused the KKK to emerged. The scopes trail: was trail that involved John T. Scopes, he was accused of teaching evolution, when it prohibited because many devoted religionist stated that it was destroying the faith in God and the bible. The immigration act of 1924 The Sacco-Vanzetti trail: Nicola Sacco, a shoe factory worker, and Bartolomeo Vanzetti, a fish peddler, were convicted of murder of a Massachusetts paymaster and his guard. Both the judge and the jury were prejudice against them because they were Italians, atheist, anarchist, and draft dodgers.

31.2 Thesis: The 1920s were a rural backlash against the rising urban America.

The 1920s was a rapidly changing era full of new technologies and many other improvements. Old fashion people had stayed with their conservative traditional views and had nostalgia for the past. On the other hand the new generation of younger people, had new values. Young women started wearing dresses that revealed more skin than before and they became known as flappers. Young people started drinking more alcohol and parting more than ever before and new sexual morality, which was not done before. The 1920s also brought new technology like ; race cars, airplanes, radio, and films, which was new in that time period. The more conservative people,older people, wanted things to stay same.

3. Thesis: During the 1920’s there were new developments especially technological ones.

Automobile: became a necessity, easier transportation, more freedom, killed a lot of people because of speeding on highways. Radio: people could follow sports, hear their candidate speak, hear the news, hear music, brought families and neighbors together. Airplane : created by the wright brothers,safer than car, curbed the railroad success, used for arial assaults. movies: The Jazz singer, Fordism: moving assembly line. The most important development was the automobile because when it was created almost “30 million americans owned a car”. It gave people a sense of freedom to joyride and to some it even gave self respect. With the automobile came auto busses, which allowed transportation of kids to schools and even churches
