Metabolic Acidosis

Caused by severe dehydration, dysfunction of kidneys, overuse of antacids, etc.
Don't release enough bicarbonates. Acidic blood, low pH. Nerve cells fail from low pH, resulting in convulsions/coma. |

Hemodialysis: machine connects to blood vessel, filters blood as kidneys would, returns it to blood stream. |

Renal capsule prevents outward swelling, forces inward swelling. Causes nephron failure. |

Inflammation of urinary bladder (cystisis) Increased risk in women because of shortness of urethra and nearness to anus. |

Polycystic Kidney disease

Inherited
Semi-solid masses (cysts) may reduce kidney function. UTI is common symptom. Treatment: dialysis, kidney replacement, or some people can manage the disease. |
