What is the definition for the mantle?
A zone of rock nearly 2,870 km thick. It makes up 2/3s of the earth's mass.
What is the definition for the core?
It forms the center of the earth and is mostly made from iron.
What is the definition for Moho?
The boundary between the crust and the mantle.
What is the definition for shadow zones?
They are locations on the earth's surface where neither S waves or P waves are detected or where only P waves are detected.
What is the magnetosphere?
The region of space, which is affected by the earth's magnetic field.
What is gravity?
The force of attraction that exists between all matter in the universe.
What is the Law of Gravitation?
This law states that the force of attraction between any two objects depends upon their masses and the distance between them.
What is the axis?
Its an imaginary straight line running through the earth from the North Pole to the South Pole.
What is the equator?

What is the oceanic crust?
Beneath the ocean, the crust is the oceanic crust.
What is the continental crust?
The part of the crust of which the continents rest on.
What is the lithosphere?
The solid portion of the mantle and the crust.
What is the asthenosphere?
The part of the mantle under the lithosphere.
What is plasticity?
The ability for a solid to flow.
What are P Waves?
They are Primary waves.
What are S waves?
They are secondary waves.
What is the Mohirovicic discontinuity?
The same thing as the Moho.
What is weight?
The measure of the strength of the pull of gravity on an object.
What are newtons?
They are what weight is measured in.
