Cenotaph

a special structure or statue that is built to remind people of a dead person who is buried somewhere else ; especially : a structure built to honor the people who were killed in a war



Eg. The town of Chhatarpur, which is named after Chhatar Sal, and contains his cenotaph, is 70 m.

Monarchy

a country that is ruled by a monarch (such as a king or queen)



Eg. We are replacing monarchy with self-rule

monarch = mono (single) + arch (ruler)..

Sinecure

a job or position in which someone is paid to do little or no work



Eg. A prebend is practically a sinecure, and the holder has no cure of souls as such.

SIN+CURE....in order to cure(engulf) your sins you give crores of rupees in POLICE STATIONS and you are pardoned....hence police stations are SINECURES....

Eg. the wars had impoverished him

impoverish -- im + poverish (poverty) which means very poor.

Eg. : out of the blue some of the youth were taken by the Maoist army.

Abbot

a man who is the head of an abbey of monks



Eg. In August 1177 we know that he was abbot of the monastery of Corazzo, near Martirano.

abbot..a+bbot..boss..a boss(head of something)+..so abbot is boss or head of a abbey of monks.

Eg. was unwilling to abase himself by pleading guilty to a crime that he did not commit

Abase > to bring someone down back to A BASE level.

very careful about behaving properly and doing things in a correct and accurate way



Eg. old-money aristocrats with a punctilious sense of propriety

it is very close to word PUNCTUAL...and you pay attention to even a person who is 1 second late, that shows that you care for even very minute things too.

Eg. exhausted from a hectic day at the office

: to get revenge against someone



Eg. retaliated his neighbor's malicious destruction of his flower garden by cutting down the man's prize apple tree
