What is the Canadian Immigration Points System?

The points system involves only economic immigrants who wish to come to Canada. Dating from 1967, the points system gathers criteria on their skills and work experience, nd if they have a certain amount of points, they can try in immigrate to Canada.

|
Health is taken in to account in order to protect the health of Canadian citizens. Steps are also taken to ensure hat society is not endangered and that excessive demand is not put on the health care system.

What is the Singh Descision?
|
In 1985, under the 1976 Immigration Act, a man seeking refugee status from India was rejected under the act, and the case was brought to Supreme Court, which resulted in an over ruling.

Immigration and Refugee Protection Act, 2002
|
An act that lays out the main rules for immigration to Canada. The Act lists out the four main categories of immigration and the objectives they seek to accomplish.

Skilled Workers and business people who wish to come and work in Canada

People who have come to escape imprisonment or death in an unsolitary country.

What is the Provincial Nomination Program
|
Under the program, provinces can nominate, or select a percentage of the Immigrants coming to Canada each year. It increases the likelihood that they will settle in places that match their skills in labour.

Canada/Quebec Accord
|
A specific agreement with Quebec. Quebec can nominate the percentage of immigrants to Canada that corresponds to its population within Canada. Quebec mainly seeks out immigrants whose first language is French.
