1.The four border states are Maryland, Kentucky, Delaware, and Missouri.



2.They had ties to the North and the South. They also allowed slavery but didn't have many slaves.




3.Missouri controlled the Mississippi River, Kentucky controlled the Ohio River, Delaware was close to the big city of Philadelphia. Maryland was close to the Confederate capital, Richmond, and also contained the US capitol.

1. They used the blockade so that none of the supplies could get to the confederacy and so the South couldn't export goods for money.


2. The Union used a blockade to prevent supplies from reaching the South.

Blockade

1. It was named after the snake that squeezes its prey to death. Split the South and squeeze to death.




2. First they were going to blockade so the South couldn't get supplies. Then they were going to gain control of the whole Mississippi River to cut the South in half and cut their supplies more. Lastly they were going to capture the Confederate capitol of Richmond.

3. They felt confident having a leader like that and everyone knows you perform better when you are confident. He inspired them.
