A compilation by Ying Shao around the turn of the 3rd Century AD, it contains vivid descriptions of contemporary cults and beliefs. Ying Shao saw a paramount need of greater perception, integrity, and courage if the Han Dynasty was to return to the golden age of the past, and so he wrote this work, which not only provides a unique record of Han beliefs, but also reveals the complex philosophy of one of the best informed intellectuals of the day.
