What is smallpox?
It is a viral disease caused by the variola virus
-It is the only human disease to be eradicated worldwide thorugh use of vaccine

-Gram negative bacteria

-Main concerns have been with contamination of the food and water supplies with botulinum toxin
-Most experts have discounted deliverly of toxin through water supply
-Toxin would be highly diluted and it would likely stick to particulates that are in the water
-Food supply is the greater concern since large number of bacteria can be ingested
-Botulinum toxin is easily detectable and food industry
