There is a noble woman of the empire who is older than him but still sexually attractive, even desirable. She wants him to be a kind of character Tutor to her young son, to make him like himself, his own man and not like the stuffy toy officers that children of his status will eventually become..... Catharina, being intimate with the affairs of the village, learns of this parculiar young man and his rumored Divine calling, and is intrigued and curious, which is her nature. When she goes into the village bazaars, which she does frequently, partly because she enjoys the alien life style, very different than that of her native empire, and partly because being well off, she has little else to do. She is usually accompanied by her young son about the age of six.
More and more she hears gossip of Yoseph, and how he has received a special message from the gods, which will lead to the deliverance of his people... And as gossip becomes more exaggerated from mouth to mouth and from ear to ear, there's even talk that he may even pocess special abilities, devination most certainly!
She one day asks a group of such gossipers for more information concerning him... Which are popular among the poor village people. Also those of the empire, of which the village is a vassal, requests household gods made for their own religion. She uses the request of a carving to get to know Yoseph better... There's something noble and self possessing in the way he moves through the market place. Not necessarily masculine, but more of a disposition that supersedes sex... She felt he stands out over all those who surround him... Even if he stood side by side with a giant, he would tower over over him... But definitely a kindness that could be approached... This encouraged her. Now understanding that he frequents the merchants shops, purchasing material for his craft, she makes a point to be near a particular table where he and now his father, are bartering... She wishes to walk directly up to him and explain herself, 'who are you? I'm new to your village...you seem like someone I could talk to... My husband is stationed here, this is my young son...his name is Seth... but she doesn't want to appear arrogant...or imposing...she is imperial after all, and these are simple people...subjects of an empire....some would even say oppressed. Also, she notices the little old man with him, his father, he gives her the feeling of being crafty, if not cynical, distasteful of people of her imperial class... This frustrates her...because she is of an impatient nature, and used to getting what she
