WWII was the largest war in history. The war took place in Asia, Europe, Africa, Australia, and North America and in the Pacific, Atlantic, Indian, and Arctic oceans. This war was way more advanced than WWI. WWII had more men, and women, more machines, more money, and more technology was used in WWII than any other war in history at the time. Some of the main people involved in WWII were Adolf Hitler (leader of Germany) and Hideki Tojo (leader of japan) The two main nations that started the war in two different areas were Germany in Europe, and Japan in the Pacific. They turned Manchuria into another colony. Japan wasn’t satisfied. They wanted to conquer all of Asia and the Pacific Islands to create a Japanese empire. In 1937, Japan invaded the rest of china along the coast. They took the major Chinese cities and killed millions of Chinese. By 1938, the Japanese had 1,000,000 troops in China but China was too big to be conquered so they increased the amount of troop to 2,000,000 by 1941 but were still not able to conquer all of China. The Japanese army then came up with the “Three All Campaign”. The Japanese was to kill “all” the Chinese they could, destroy “all” of China that they couldn’t conquer, and burn “all” crops, buildings, and homes. The result of this mentality was by the end of the war, China had over 10,000,000 dead, and 60,000,000 had been displaced, and many of Chinese cities were destroyed. In response to the Japanese attack on China, the United States stopped trading goods to Japan such as iron and oil. This embargo had serious impact on the Japanese war effort. Without oil, the Japanese would not be able to fly their planes, drive their tanks or sail their ships and all the war against china would stop.
