Write A Narrative Essay About Moving Back To School

Decent Essays
When I was 12 my dad decided he wanted to go back to school and get a master’s in Peace Education. The thing was though, that the school he wanted to go to was in Costa Rica. My family and I moved there for a year. I had to go to a public school in a country whose language I had never spoken before.
I remember the first day of school there. Everyone was gathered in a large gymnasium, the principal began his speech, of which I couldn’t understand a word. Once his speech was over they began calling names to assign classes. They called my name and I got in a line with my soon to be classmates. My family waved goodbye from the gym doors and then I was alone. I felt so lost and scared but what could I do except follow the person in front of me.

Moving schools away from all of my friends should’ve been an appalling experience, surprisingly, it was a blessing in disguise. I went to Agnes Baptist Elementary from kindergarten to 5th grade and I had friends that I've known since I was 3. I loved it there and knew the school like the back of my hand. Everything was superior, like most good things, though there were times where they weren’t, I was harassed by a bully almost everyday, my grades were getting inadequate, and my mom didn’t want me to be a sad, disconsolate 7th grader at a new junior high. In the result, I moved and I went to Savage Middle School, a school that had 6th, 7th, and 8th graders.…

I put off returning to school because of this very topic - time management. Bethel offers several ways to help with this issue, I particularly like the online calendar as a way to keep assignments and discussion deadlines front and center. I was traveling out of state for the entire Unit 1 cycle; it was a daunting task making sure I was back at the hotel in time to devote time to my studies as well as my work obligations. So, remaining focused on keeping professional and personal worlds separate and manageable is the bane I (like my other classmates) share and must remain cognizant of.…

Fifth grade: I was the new pup in the pack. Having moved away from my old friends, old school, and old town and now having to make new friends, in a new school, in a new town, I was lost. I had always had to face a new mountain to climb, or stretch of snow to treck. Many times, when the hill was too high, or the snow was too deep, I had fallen down and completely stopped; nothing within me pushing to go farther. However, as a new pup with new opportunities and a fresh start, something changed.…
