Why are Veterans America's heroes. Veterans do so much for us and our nation, risking their lives and leaving their families so we can keep ours. There are approximately 22 million veterans living in the U.S. today, that is around 7.3% of all living Americans today. Veterans also make up 12% of the homeless adults, which is very sad because they fought so hard in the war for this country and we repay them with no homes, food, or water. In the war there are many things you risk. Many things happen in war not just physical but things such as PTSD and dementia could occur too. Veterans day is celebrated on November 11, 1938.
