CHAPTER ONE
1.0 INTRODUCTION
Safety and Health is two important elements for an employee in their daily work activity. Wherever we work whether in the office, hospital, school, site construction, or even in the factory safety is a very important and everyone must take it seriously. However, most of the employee never take seriously about this matter. Therefore, day by day the increasing number of case of an accident in the workplace have been reported. (DOSH, 2014). Recently, there is an accident happen in the site construction which involve deceased was happen in Putrajaya. (The Star, 24.3.2015) This accident resulted the death of 4 people. It happen because of the carelessness or negligence of the workers who not following the rules …show more content…
Currently, the number of accidents or hazards occurred in the workplace was increase. It is an employer responsibility to provide a safe working environment in the organization. The latest ILO estimates show that safety and health at work remains a major global concern. Urgent action is required to reverse this trend of workplace accidents and disease, reliance on benefits, early retirement, exclusion from labor market, the loss of a breadwinner and poverty …show more content…
Following OSHA standards not just may help to avoid unwanted workplace tragedies from accidents, the number of injury-related employee absences can be minimize, compensation and insurance costs of each employee can be low and of course the productivity may increase from employees who feel secure with the company which consider that their staff safety is important and absolutely employee will feel comfortable and happy doing their job. The researcher think that every company should have a Health and Safety Department. With existence of the Health and Safety Department, it may educate and spread the knowledge about workplace safety to the employee by conducting a course, seminar, inviting expertise in Health and Safety to give a talk, do some practical session like fire drill, practical on using fire extinguisher and basic training of how to give an emergency aid such as Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), using bandage, clean wound, making an arm sling and many more. Besides, with existence of this Health and Safety Department absolutely will increase the awareness of workplace safety among employee in the
