Work Ethic Self Evaluation

Improved Essays
As we near the end of this spring semester, we should now take some and evaluate if any improvements were made between the first and second half of the semester, as well as some goals that you didn’t quite reach. Looking specifically at my participation for the last half of this class, I can definitely see the continuation of my responsibility and work ethic in how I completed my assignments and conduct myself that I exhibited in the first semester. However, I also have to admit to myself that I still could have done better in the areas that I said I was going to improve in within the last checklist paper. Based on this, as well as filling out the guidelines checklist and seeing where I fall in each category, I believe that I deserve twenty-three …show more content…
I did becoming a little more vocal during the class or lab sessions, but it wasn’t enough to make a noticeable different. If I would have talk more within class I could have help others increase their learning by sharing my thoughts and answers, and engaging in beneficial conversation. I should have reached out more to the people sitting next to or around me, especially in the times that were specified for talking to your neighbor about the material. Another thing I never changed within this half of the semester would be attending the study group provided each Thursday. I never took the opportunity to go the study group and get more one-on-one help, even though there was certain topics that I didn’t understand as clearly as others, and questions I were unsure about on the quizzes. I realize now that going to these would have been very beneficial both for the quizzes and going in to the final exam as it would have help my ability to remember the information from recall rather than recognition, and clear up some of the questions and uncertainties I had about the various

Throughout my high school career, there were many times I collaborated with other students to execute a project. When working on these activities, there were individuals who had different approaches to how things should be done. Ultimately, the overall productivity of the group was determined by the work ethic of those within it. Work ethic is something that is molded during the early years in education, but now, in high school, a person’s principle on how work should be done are easily shown in how they interact in a group setting. Productivity is directly related to the work ethic of a person, and this is shown through the impulsive revolving doors, the apathetic automatic doors, and the meticulous screen doors.…

Writing was not a subject that held my interest in high school. Throughout the last twelve years I have found myself having to write letters, proposals, and business correspondence for my employers. I would complete the assignment and move on to the next task. Deciding to further my education I enrolled in Daytona State College and my first class was your ENC 1101. I have seen a change in my pre-class writing style; I have honed my skills, and the different techniques I have learned while taking this course have only improved my writing style.…

The title of my first reading response was “Trying to Find Joy in Reading.” I believe this was an appropriate title to describe how I walked into this class, and still in some ways how I’m walking out of it. My attitudes have changed slightly after taking this class, but I’m still not someone who would probably sit down and read a book in my free time. However, there were glimmers of hope for me throughout the semester that might indicate I’m heading in the right direction as far as being able to find joy in the reading process. I’m more of an active and outdoors type of person, than someone who enjoys reading.…

It feels like so long ago when I first began this English course. I can remember being so excited about the class topic, racism and social justice, which I felt that I had a lot of passion for. Little did I know that I would have to gather up even more enthusiasm and passion to be able to continue writing papers about the same topic all semester long. This course has tested my endurance, and at many times my patience, and for that I am thankful because I know in the end, it has made me a better writer. Despite various minor challenges this semester I believe that I have put in the hard work that it takes and I have achieved the course goals and will complete this class feeling fulfilled and accomplished.…

I have become more proficient in my class participation because because I have gotten used to the people in my classes as well as the teachers. In the beginning of the year I rarely participated in any class because I didn't feel comfortable that I didn't know them well. But as I interacted more with my peers so I started participating more and more. Another thing that I have become more proficient in class is my note taking. Before I used to not take any notes for any class because they didn't seem important.…

Wow, what a semester it has been. It has had its ups, it has had its downs, but overall it was three months full of wonderful memories and personal growth. I am very proud of the work I put in this semester and knock on wood, this will most likely be my highest GPA semester thus far. Of all the courses I am taking this semester I have not put in as much consistent work for any of them as I have this class. This is not to say I have not worked hard in my other courses, but in no other course did I have the necessary drive to work on something for hours on end for several days in a row.…

This portfolio shows how I have grown as a reader and writer; enhancing my research skills and be able to convey them in my own words. As a reader, I was able to find the evidence I was looking for to support my argument. In my first writing, “Gladwell’s Missing Factor”, I was able to deeply analyze the theories Malcolm Gladwell wrote in his book, Outliers. As well as bring outside evidence of a current class I was enrolled. As a writer, I was able to construct strong arguments to capture my reader’s attention.…

    Most Energetic Year

The Most Energetic Year This year has easily been the most difficult year I have experienced throughout my entire education career. With the never-ending homework from U.S. history, studying and taking the ACT, and keeping up with basketball, I have been non-stop for the entire year. Even though I can say that, including this class, it was the hardest year of education, I also think I have learned the most this year. I think the text that I found most compelling was easily the movie we watched at the end of the year called The Straight Story. I know that this is a movie rather than actual literature, but I do think that I took the most lessons out of this text than any other one of this year.…

“Short-term lets you hold a restaurant's phone number in your mind as you dial the number, you rely on your short-term memory. This storage is capable of holding roughly seven items of information for approximately 15 to 20 seconds.” (Foster, 2011) Short-term memory is very restricted and needs to make room for all original knowledge coming in consistently. “Long-term is a more permanent storage, hoarding information over hours, days or years. This information can take the form of declarative memories, which include simple facts or specific episodes in your life, or procedural memories to do with skills, such as how to ride a bike.”…
