Improved Essays
Many people throughout the world are pro-choice; however, there are many people out there that are pro-life. Abortion is a big problem in the United States, and sometimes women or teens try to do a procedure on their own because they are scared to go to the hospital or do not want anyone to know. Most of these women or teens end up killing themselves and the baby because they do not know how to do a procedure safely. Pro-choice should be allowed because women have the right to choose what they want to do with their bodies and lives. Most mothers do have the right to chose what they want to do with their baby and their body, but if the girl is under eaighteen she will have to have a parent consent. One reason why women have abortions is if …show more content…
The choice to have children is central to a woman's independence and ability to determine her fetus ("Abortion ProCon.org."). Sandra Day O'Conner wrote “The ability of women to participate equally in the economics and social life of the nation has been facilitated by their ability to control their reproductive life” ("Abortion ProCon.org."). Socialist argue that all women deserve the right to control their bodies because it was clear that with control over their own reproductive lives, women couldn’t be the equals of men ("Abortion: Every Woman's Right."). Also women who feel like they are in control of their bodies and get to decide what to do; they more than likely have the baby because they feel better about themselves ("Abortion: Every Woman's Right."). Academy of Medical Royal Colleges say that a woman who feel like they are in control of their body is less likely to have an abortion because they feel confident that they will be able to take care of the baby ("Abortion ProCon.org."). However studies showed women who could not obtain abortion were more likely to stay in a relationship with an abusive partner; and were more than twice as likely to become victims of domestic violence ("Abortion ProCon.org."). Some psychologists say that if women do not have the ability to control their fertility then they would be trapped by the realities of pregnancy, childbirth and childbearing; rather …show more content…
In 2001 3 in 10 women had abortions before the age of 45 (“Birth Defects”). That was 1.4 million babies who did not get to have a life. Pregnancy termination stops a beating heart of a growing human. Every single abortion ends the life of a innocent human being. The Federal Unborn Victims of Violence Act is to protect unborn children from assault and murder it states that under federal law, anybody intentionally killing or attempting to kill an unborn child should be punished ("Abortion ProCon.org."). Every unborn child should have the right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness in the second and third trimester. In 2010, research shows that states indicated that unborn children are considered humans under tort, property and criminal law (Roden, 2010). By these laws shown, a mother shouldn’t get to choose whether the fetus lives or dies. The unborn child is its own person and by a mother aborting her own child should be considered murder. Under law a child is supposed to be born for many different reasons, including being capable of having a legacy (Roden, 2010).…

Abortion is morally permissible in which a fetus is not a person which deprives the fetus to its right to life, circular reasoning is an ineffective to oppose abortion, abortion only risks the fetus not society, and deprivation from a fetus's future and suffering of a loved one has no effect on the argument towards anti-abortion. One of the most important aspects of abortion being legal is the issue of safety. Until abortion became legal in the U.S. Supreme Court’s 7-2 decision in the Roe v. Wade case of 1973 (McBride,Alex), many women were forced to undergo unsafe abortions. It is estimated that nearly 1.2 million women died during “back alley” abortions before Roe v. Wade was passed.…

There are many things in life that are thought to be good for some people, but bad for others. A great example that represents the dissoi logoi is abortion. Abortion is the ending of pregnancy by removing a fetus or embryo from the womb before it can survive on its own. Much like the myth that vaccines can cause autism, there is no scientific proof that safe abortions are linked to infertility, breast cancer or other long-term medical issues. The Royal Australian College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists have shown through their studies that complications with legal abortion are extremely rare, and that serious fatalities occur less often with abortions than pregnancies that are carried to full term. Furthermore, they state that whilst the administration of medicine and minor surgery do carry some risks, neither surgical or medical abortion should have any negative effect on future fertility. In regards to other issues, The National Cancer Institute in the United States has examined in great detail the supposed link between breast cancer and abortion in 2003, discovering that “Having an abortion or miscarriage does not increase a woman’s subsequent risk of developing breast cancer”…

Abortion, in less harsh terms, is the termination of a pregnancy due to reasons of rape, incest, issues with the mother’s health, or just an unwanted pregnancy. Many believe abortion is simply the murder of an innocent life. Over 56 million unborn children have been aborted; that is 1 abortion every 24 seconds. Many people believe that abortion is morally wrong for many reasons. First, life starts at the moment of conception (the mother and father have created a new life).…

Based on the fact that abortion is murder coincides with the idea that women will realized the immoral actions they have taken. These actions will have an affect on women mentally and physically. Abortion can potentially be a life risk because “two or three women out of 1,000 need follow-up care for...after a medical abortion, with a death rate of 0.5 out of 100,000” (Bazelon). Given that the percentage of medical care and death rate exist suggests that some women could possibly be affected physically after an abortion. However, many people that are desperate for abortions risk an immoral act of committing an unsafe abortion.…
