Arlington, Texas is a large city with a total population of 379,577 making it the third-largest municipality in the metropolitan area. The city is part of a Mid-Cities region of Dallas- Fort Worth. Downtown Dallas is approximately 20 miles west, while downtown Fort Worth is approximately 12 miles east. Arlington is considered to be a thriving city, and is surrounded by many attraction sites such as Six Flags over Texas, AT&T stadium (Cowboys Stadium), and the Global Life Park (Ranger’s Stadium).

Through observation and interviewing key informants, the information assessed helped determine the community's values and beliefs, physical environment, housing/health services, community's safety needs, availability of economic resources, and the accessibility to health care.
Summary of Data Examples The subjective data founded within census tract 1220.01 showed that the community is diverse; however, the majority of the population observed was Hispanic/Latino. Other ethnicities observed were Caucasians, Asian descent, Non-Hispanic Whites, and African Americans. Multifamily and single level homes surrounded the focal point area. Educational needs are met, with elementary schools (Veda Knox & Thornton) within close proximity and middle/high school nearby. The community is in need of renovation, some sidewalks within the census area including Mitchell Street had cracks and dips; however, construction is being made on Arbor Oaks and Forestwood drive. Signs of improvement were observed. Houses within the focal point area appeared to be in renovation or newly updated. The general appearance varied from house to house some being in worse conditions then others. The mode of transportation depends on the individual, if transportation was not available then walking would be the primary option. According to a key informant T.T, “a lot of people within the area walk or ride their bikes. Homeless people do walk from the shelter on division to the [library]” (personal communication, September 09, 2016). No dart bus was observed in the area. Key informant E.G. mentioned that criminal activity has decreased within the years stating that, “there used to be a lot of robberies within the community, but now it has calmed down” (personal communication, September 09, 2016).
