A group of boys find themselves stranded in a beautiful but isolated environment. For a brief period things go well, However, human nature starts to assert itself, and their mini-society descends swiftly into antagonism, hostility and violence. (Tabakoff). Even though people act one way they’re still violent on the inside. Golding is trying to show what happens on the island it's happening all the time. In the novel, “Lord of the Flies”, written by William Golding, the conflicts man vs. man, man vs. nature, and man vs society; Portrays the external conflict which illustrates multiple sides of human nature.

Man vs. nature is when man is fighting against a force of nature. “There isn’t anyone to help you. Only me. And I’m the Beast…. Fancy thinking the beast was something you could hunt and kill!... Why things are the way they are?” The boys attempt to fight against the beast, but in the end the “beast” wins because it is a force of nature. Man may feel immortal, but in the end nature prevails.
