1. Why were Madame C. J. Walker's accomplishments so impressive? At first, Madame C.J. Walker did not seem destined for success with the way her lifestyle was going. But after years of hard work, her professionalism and excellent communication skills are the building blocks of leadership in the field today, as does her knack for marketing. Although she was able to find remarkable success, Madame Walker never forgot how hard it was for minorities to thrive in this very repressive time.
2. What is the advantage of having a mentor? It can be a more experienced cosmetologist offering advice and the benefit of his or her experience to others. Working with an accomplished professional in the field is a great way to learn leadership skills.
