Most people in under developed countries do not have or enjoy the same advantages of industrialization. The benefits of modern technology, medicine, food, and entertainment are not as easily accessible to those people as they are to the people that live in the developed countries. It is not as noticable now, but back then it probably was, especially to countires like Britian that basically prevented its territories, like India, from industrializing when they were.
