“You can go anywhere in the house, but stay out of the attic! The last thing I need is for something to happen to you and your little brother while you’re in my care.”
Great Aunt Adeline’s words played repeatedly through Cassie’s mind as she headed down the hall toward the attic door. Tagging behind her was her little brother Joey, who refused to stay in bed on this one particular night all because of a bedtime story. Cassie had to admit, the story she had been reading to Joey the past couple of nights, was also the reason why she wasn’t in bed.
The Three Angry Goblins, by Charles M. Blackwell, was the book they found among a hundred others in Aunt Adeline’s library. There was nothing peculiar about the story, in fact it was quite entertaining.

The reason they were angry, was because they couldn’t find the key to get back in the book.
Cassie became suspicious, after noticing the illustrations within the books pages. There were sketches of rooms that were in Great Aunt Adeline’s house, the parlor, the library, a young girls bedroom, and what appeared to be the attic. There was only one reason why she felt the need to break Aunt Adeline’s one rule, and that was to find out if the book truly existed. For if it did, then the angry goblins trapped in the attic were no fairy tale, and neither was the message.

The door to the attic appeared dark and narrow, and she wondered if turning the glass knob would send goblins dashing down the steps after them. She flipped on the light switch, and then quickly glanced back at Joey.
“Remember, you can’t tell a soul. ”
Joey sighed. “Are there monsters in the attic?”
