George Milton, a character from the book “Of Mice of Men” who in my opinion is a hero archetype. The hero archetype is a character who battles evil and helps the nature of good. He fits this archetype well because throughout the whole book he helps Lennie and kinda tries to lead him to the right path. He watches over Lennie and tries to keep him out of trouble. I choose this character because he seemed nice and different than other characters.…

TITLE (HOOK)GIVING UP Short stories are put together in a way that the reader can find meaning on what is being unsaid more then what is being said, allowing the reader to read in between the lines and think critically. Short stories compared to novels have less content, therefore making it more difficult to find the meaning, but with the use of elements of fiction one can effectively grasp as much information as possible. One common theme for “Tall Tales from the Mekong Delta” by Kate Braverman and “Aurora” by Junot Diaz” is destructive relationships and drug influence. The authors of Tall Tales and Aurora use characterization and figurative language to interconnect the thought that when undesirable temptations are displayed to human kind, it can lead to bad decisions and no self-control of the inner self that ultimately lead to physical/verbal abuse and drug use. Characterization is a fundamental piece of a story, allowing the readers to create their own perspective and interpretation of the character.…

The Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens suggests that true redemption is seized when you accept future consequences of your past mistakes. This novel follows an avaricious man named Ebenezer Scrooge and his route to redemption. Charles Dickens used a lot of illustrations to describe many things surrounding Scrooge. As you will read in my essay, Scrooges journey to redemption was a rather bumpy than smooth; it was one that nearly ended at death.…

“ To be a human being is to be in a state of tension between your appetites and your dreams and the social realities around you and your obligations to your fellow man( New York Times Company, 2009).” John Updike sought the clash of extremes in everyday dramas of marriage, sex and divorce( New York Times Company, 2009). The detailed fineness of his descriptive language put him in line with painters and other great authors. Updike's longstanding interest in the terrors and pleasures of sex, marriage, adultery, parenthood, identity, and religion that ordinary Americans have experienced accommodates a considerable argument of why he surely deserves the awards he received. “Rabbit, Run” presents different elements, in which leads to a deeper…
