More school means better education. And with more education make a better outcome. Teachers have to have 4 years of school at the minimum to get their Bachelor degree and if they want to get paid more they have to get a masters degree which is 4 years with 15 credits. Obviously, merit pay plans are growing rapidly across the country and are used in different ways to compensate teachers. Not to mention, some of the plans have been successful and some have failed. Nevertheless, policy makers will continue to develop policies that will improve the educational system for K-12 with the interest of merit pay at the top of the agenda. Since teachers are one of the main targets for student success, policy makers should strive to understand the different levels of teaching styles, student’s learning skills, and classroom environments in order to develop a merit pay system that is workable and equity. Although teachers’ merit pay plans are great, it is clear that money is not the only fact that can contribute to student achievement.…

Most parents have their children (pre-teenagers and teenagers) do some chores around the house. Chores can be throwing the trash out, vacuuming, washing dishes, making beds, dusting, or maybe even refilling the dog’s food bowl. The incentive to get children to do these chores is an allowance, or in other words money. This is a bad incentive because children should not be getting “paid” to help maintain their home clean. Do their parents get an allowance for sweeping the floor, doing laundry, cooking dinner, or cleaning the bathroom?…

Working only nine months out of the year, many people feel that teachers are overpaid. When you take Ohio’s average starting teacher salary, and divide it into 52 weeks you get $15.87 an hour, however, if you divide that pay in just 36 weeks, teachers make $22.91 an hour starting out. With over $7 an hour difference, many argue that teachers make enough. However, teachers do not get paid that $22.91 an hour, for they divide that pay up to last them through the summer, causing them to earn that $15.87 an hour. Others also argue that teachers have many breaks during their day.…

With the world around us growing at a rapid pace, it is no surprise that most jobs will require post-secondary education before too long. A high school diploma is no longer going to suffice if one wishes to attain a job that pays enough to support themselves and perhaps even a family. So with most prison inmates not even having the credentials to receive a high school diploma, they are almost destined to fail and return to prison within three years (Altschuler and Skorton. 2013). With it being a topic of controversy throughout the years, one wonders how prisoners would benefit from an education within the system. Would they improve as people?…
