Personally, I do not think that PE should be a required class for any schooling past elementary. First, there is no real benefit of taking a PE class other than getting the required credit. Second, it can wear students out and that can potentially get in the way of other classes as well as jobs. Finally, finding a solid dedicated instructor for a college level PE class would probably be one of the biggest hassles possible. My first point is that PE class really offers no benefit other than the credit that’s tied onto it. When you think about it, sure it makes people exercise, but one class once a week for maybe an hour or two is not going to be as healthy as say, somebody going to the gym four times a week on their own time. When you think about it, you really need to be as on top of your game as you can possibly be for your other classes. If you have to take a PE class, if you have another class after that one, you’re going to be so tired and worn out that you’re either not going to do as well in that class as you could have, or you’re just going to skip it all together, thinking that you’re far too tired and worn out to be going to it. Another thing that a PE class interferes with is jobs. Students who have to go to work after class are already somewhat drained even by just focusing on classes where they have to sit down and listen. If you’re making people go to a PE class, and they have work afterwards, I guarantee you that they’re going to be far too tired to function properly at their job, and that can lead to getting yelled at, warnings, and even getting fired in the worst case scenarios. In all honesty, I don’t think that a PE class has any benefit whatsoever to the rest of your …show more content…
Sure, you can find some amateur gym teachers from high or elementary schools, but seeing as how most college students have already taken classes at those levels, it’d be hard for them with a teacher like this, as I’m sure that someone who’s worked in high or elementary schools their entire life would treat this class much the same way. Then you start looking into higher up fitness trainers, and they’re not going to take time out of their day and jobs to teach a class. Dedicated fitness professionals actually have incredibly busy schedules and days, and it’d be very hard for one of them to find a spot every week for an hour to two hour long
