Leading is something that I have done more and more each year of high school. My freshman year was a little different for me. Other than being the only freshman to play varsity basketball and baseball, I did not spend much time leading my freshman year. Freshman year ended, and soon sophomore year began. My friends had spent the end of our freshman year, the summer, and the first few weeks of school suggesting that I sign up for student council saying that I would be a help to our class council which had failed to plan a class dance, a class sponsored service, or any sort of class bonding experience during the previous year. I decided to sign up, and quickly became a steady voice on a loud, argumentative council. Junior year came around, and our dean of students pulled me and three other students out of class. Our dean told us that teachers saw us as the leaders of our grade. The teachers were hoping to remedy the dysfunction and loud disagreement of our grade, and have a more efficient council. Gaining confidence, the four of us lead the class council through a smooth year. Our senior year has proceeded smoothly, and with multiple functions already underway, I decided to plan a fundraiser of my own. With approval from the council and Senate, the senior class will be hosting Faculty Feud. Our twist on the popular television show Family Feud has “families” of teachers battling against each other to guess what students answered on various surveys.
