Mitch was determined never to end up like his uncle, who died young, didn't accomplish everything he wanted, and didn't live his life fully. Mitch then went on with his work, took too many hours and never gave himself a break. Mitch’s brother was very important to him and he really wanted to reconnect with him. “I had tried calling my brother in Spain several times. I left messages saying that I really wanted to talk to him, that I had been doing a lot of thinking about us (p.37)” Mitch wanted to get in touch with his family or more importantly his brother to help him, as a family member should do when someone was going through a tough time.
