Why Is Makayla Important To Me

Decent Essays
Someone once said, "You won't succeed if you don't try." When I hear that I think of my cheer coach Makayla, she is someone I can talk to about my problems with and someone I can go to for help. She teaches me many things like responsibility, teaching me things and guiding me through them, and how to treat others.

Makayla teaches me responsibility through many ways for example, how to keep up with my stuff and to bring everything I need for games and practices. Usually she will text us the night before and tell us what we wear to games and how to do our hair. If we forget something it's on us and we have to see if we can get what we need. She also has a schedule our team follows, when we have to have cheers down and correct by a set time, and when we have games and practices. On top of responsibility she teaches us how to treat

It also says to be there for another on the team. For say, if a team member is struggling with something we need to be there for them and help. As a team we have to support each other and get along. Along with responsibility and respect she teaches us new skills.

She teaches us a lot of new things that she knew as a cheerleader and what she knows now. Some of the things she teaches us is how to do jumps like toe-touches, hurdlers, hurkies, and pikes. We learn the right approaches to them, the eight counts, and how to follow through on the whole jump. She also makes sure we cheer correctly. If we mess up, she tells us what we did wrong and how to fix it.

With all the wisdom she has taught me about responsibility, respect, and new skills, I feel like it will make me better as a cheerleader and a team member. With all the courage, trustworthiness, and support, I hope it will better the whole team in general. I feel like our team respects the team and

She would encourage others while displaying the proper attitude or actions herself. She never gave up and was a supportive player and friend to her teammates. Her biggest role as a leader came when the older players started to leave and the new players like Sydney Leroux and Christen Press came in. Throughout my high school cheerleading career, I have had five different coaches. I have classified them into The Mom, The BFF, The Nazi, The Babysitter, The Crazy One, and The Ideal Coach. Each one made a distinct impact on cheer at TCPS in their own way, positive or negative, because of their actions and attitudes. Each category is specially designed for each coach I’ve had and their demeanor towards the cheerleading squad.…

Cheerleading has always been a very important aspect to my life. In high school our cheerleading squad had an experience that proved cheerleaders do not get the respect from other athletes that they deserve. As a cheerleading squad, we were at every football and basketball game, even the away games. We were there to show support for our fellow athletes, however when our squad was in a cheerleading competition, not one of the other athletes came in support of us. This showed the lack of respect other athletes had for our cheerleading squad.…

Watching the ball leave my teammate’s stick, fly through the air, and land in my stick was only the beginning of my love for lacrosse. Now, every time I shoot the ball and it strikes the back of the net, I remember the first time I played lacrosse and I am extremely grateful for it. I knew from the moment I picked up a stick, that I had a future and I would need to work extremely hard to become the best player I could be. Although I was not able to catch or throw my first time practicing, I kept pushing myself and evolved into the strong player I am today. After a surprising moment during my sophomore year of high school, my love for lacrosse was never the same and the respect I have for the sport and other players has grown immensely.…
