Any person who has watched an athletic event has seen someone in soccer fake an injury. Another illustration with the implementation of video review is watching a football player poke another in the eye or even worse step on them deliberately. Fairness, Integrity, and respect which are all ethical means to resolving many of the above mentioned questionable actions specific to sports. They may be applied to the office yet it’s hard to imagine in the business world two secretaries tackling each other. While causing harm to another is more common in sports ethics can also be applied to race, sport eligibility, or student-athlete issues.
The overall general consensus among sports professional is that “both the ethical and the legal aspects of a situation” (Thornton, Champion, & Ruddell, 2012) need to be made when making a decision. While some acts may be for the greater good of fair play and not illegal to come to good decisions requires having a solid grasp of the “ethical decision-making process.”
