Why I Want To Pursue A Degree In Criminology

I am the youngest child of two children. This is where I learned the importance of family, respect, and watching out for family and friends. I still live my life according to those values. I don’t mind hard work. I was always taught that you must work hard every day no matter how well your life is going and you must work even more when life isn’t going as planned. Early on in life, I was introduced to the sport of soccer. I fell in love with the sport. I ended up playing soccer from the age of four up until I graduated High School in 2011. Before graduating high school I decided that I was not going to play soccer in college. I decided I would go into college pursuing a degree in Criminology. Gabbe Inc. is my father’s company that deals with general contracting and real estate flipping.
What motivated me to become a police officer was another police officer I saw as a child. I was riding in my mother’s car when an extremely bad thunderstorm was going on, as we went through an intersection I saw a police officer out in the storm helping a motorist whose car had stalled. After seeing this I thought to myself “Wow, that cop is out in this terrible weather still doing his job. That’s what I want to do”. Ever since that day I have had a burning desire to become a police officer.
I have Three future aspirations with LMPD. My first aspiration with LMPD is to graduate the basic training academy. My second aspiration with LMPD is to become a Police training officer. I enjoy teaching and helping others achieve their goals. I feel being an PTO would be a good fit. My third aspiration is to become a sergeant in the patrol division.
A few hobbies I enjoy include running, playing sports, and being outdoors (hiking, biking, canoeing). My family and I would go canoeing every week or every other week. This is where I learned to love the outdoors and
