Why I Want To Become An Army Officer

The United States Navy has been a major part of my life through family and my career. I grew up in a Navy household and I am proud to say that my loving father, retired from the Navy after 20 years of service. I have also been employed by one of the Navy’s command, Space and Naval Warfare Systems Center (SPAWAR) for the past 7 years. I also have several other family members that currently or have served in the U.S. Navy. I have always had such a great deal of respect for my family members, friends and all other servicemen and women who wear the uniform everyday with pride. Their courage and commitment to secure life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness for us does not go unappreciated. Today, I am ready to join them and give back to my country in the same manner, which is why I would sincerely desire a commission in the United States Navy Reserve. Since about the third grade, I have wanted to be an engineer. I have always enjoyed challenging myself mentally and expanding my knowledge through learning and hands-on experience. My most recent experiences with the Information Dominance Enterprise Architect group within SPAWAR as we assist US Fleet Cyber Command has introduced me even more so to the importance of Information Warfare. As a Commissioned Officer, I want to help deliver information to our decision makers by better understanding our information domain and that of our adversaries. I have seen and heard of the good works and sacrifices made by family members, friends and other servicemen and women. I am ready to join them and dedicate my life to protect our country. I am ready now, anytime, and anyplace to serve my country as a Commissioned Officer in the United States Navy
