Why I Want To Become A Student Board Member

Being a student in the Beacon City School district has come with many rewards and exciting opportunities. Coming from a small private, I wasn't sure what to expect walking in on the first day of middle school. But soon the doubtful thoughts were replaced with the warm and inviting greetings from teachers, faculty, and students. Becoming a student member of the Beacon City School District Board of Education is the perfect way for me to give back to this school system in a way that could benefit all. Over the course of my time in this district, I have viewed the school through different perspectives that serve as qualifications for becoming a student board member. My long term commitments to math club, yearbook, creative writing club, and student council gives me ample insight into the effects of after school activities and clubs in this district. Over the summer I found myself randomly on the school website searching around, when I stumbled upon it the school budget from 2016. When reading each budget change down to the last penny, I developed a fascination with the board and its drive to establish a healthy educational environment in throughout the district. Students in the Beacon City School District deserve to be heard. My interest in becoming a board member is very high because I believe that engaging more students into school affairs creates a comfortable environment for them to voice their opinions. Also this is a good opportunity to conduct change in my community and, at the same time, learn more about the current issues it faces. Sitting in on board meetings would be a great opportunity to witness how problems are addressed and how a consensus is met. I plan to pursue a career related to the government or law, so this would be a great way to gain
