Being a Veterinarian can be a rough life when the job involves saving animals However the job takes, schooling, commitment, and having passion and love for animals. Small animal vets treat pets such as dogs, cats and gerbils. They work in a vet’s office but a few focus on large animals such as sheep, cows, and horses. Large animal vets usually drive to ranches and stables where their patients live. Small animal vets may take care of broken bones, worms, ticks, dental care larger animals vets may take care of BRSV, BVDV, IBR. There are all kinds of jobs in a vets office like Receptionist, Office Manager, Kennel Assistant, Veterinary Technician and more. In order to become a vet.you must graduate with a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (D.V.M. or V.M.D.) degree from a 4-year program at an accredited college of veterinary medicine. There are 28 colleges in 26 States that meet accreditation standards set by the Council on Education of the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA). Many people also get experience by working at animal hospitals or shelters while in college. Most states require a national exam but also a state exam that …show more content…
One of the benefits of becoming a vet is they get 2-4 weeks of paid vacation they also get paid sick leave. They also have to Continuing Education to keep their certification and there is a high demand for qualified vets so it's not hard to find a job. There is a strong business and social network. There are lots of opportunities for travel (seminars, networking, research, etc) and it's fun to be able to work with animals on a daily basis. The truth is that there is a lot of advancement in a variety of technologies taking place in veterinary practice these days. The first is the classic ‘vette’ gadgets, gizmos and systems that make the process of diagnosing, treating and managing patients
