Why I Want To Be A Physical Therapist

Physical Therapy Essay Physical Therapy is a profession that has impacted me at a young age. Many people struggle with making a choice of what profession to choose but this field stuck out to me and I decided that this is my passion and I am going to stick with it. Physical Therapy is a wonderful field that allows you to interact with people and help them get back to their healthy self. My desire is to do just that, interact and help people get back on track. Ever since I was young, I’ve always had a heart to helping people. One of my dreams was to go on a mission trip. This past summer I was able to go on a mission trip to an orphanage in India. At Mercy Hospital I had the chance to shadow a Physical Therapist. He allowed me to observe his work day. I learned a lot from this experience. I got to truly know the strengths and weaknesses of being a Physical Therapist. I must say that by the end of this opportunity I realized how passionate I have become for this field. Each patient that I met had a different and unique story. They weren’t just patients to me, they were more than that. I wanted to see them grow and heal. This is when I realized that I needed to make the next steps to be a Physical Therapist. In the future I am hoping to work in a clinic or hospital setting alongside other amazing Physical and Occupational Therapists. By receiving a DPT I will be able to use the insight and skills I have received in the real world. Learning various strategies will help me use the proficiency and academic intelligence that I have accomplished in this field.
