Why I Want To Be A Patriot

Improved Essays
I feel as if the Americans were the patriots in the time. The ways that I would see it is we were fighting for freedom, we made our own rules, and we started a population by ourselves. These are the ways that I think can make us a patriot. People think we are bad for wanting to go and being on our own. We the people aren’t the bad ones for what we had done.

The first reason I think that we are patriots is we fought for our freedom. We fighting for our freedom was a huge change in time. When we fought for our freedom in the civil war against the British to break free from them. We had then signed the Declaration of Independence so we could then have our own freedom. Thomas Jefferson was the creator of the Declaration of Independence.

Stephen Kiernan once told “Authentic patriotism is not about you, what you believe or what you think it's right... Authentic patriotism is not an opinion, It’s an action.” I can honestly say both are important because thinking are thoughts and actions are acts but actions are what's more important. A person may think something but not act on it for whatever fear they have.…

Patriotism is extremely important in America and is a piece of the foundation of our government, since it, as well as, nationalism and American pride have been rampant since the American Revolution and early years of the United States. Through patriotism, the U.S. can accomplish many things with the help of its people, especially when times are rough and a considerable amount of help is needed, even if it means sacrificing an arm or a limb, theoretically, for our government. Today, there are many organizations that were created as a way of helping drafted troops abroad. People can show their appreciation for the troops by sending donations to them for extended foreign trips, medical supplies and equipment, canned, dehydrated, or nonperishable food items, plastic utensils, basic hygiene supplies like toothbrushes, toothpaste, floss, body wipes, disposable razors, special products (for feminine hygiene), not to mention, people can also send sentimental…

Have you ever wondered what would have happened if the allied forces during the WWII had been just a little bit less patriotic? Owing to this sacrifice of millions and millions of people the world has been given an opportunity to lean from its faults and defeat fascism. That is why I strongly believe that patriotism during wartime is vital and I intend to prove it. To begin with, it should be said that a lot of people at every war are extremely young and inexperienced and thus not quite qualified and prepared for what is to come.…

Whenever a person is classified as a patriot, it is always done by a person who is loyal to a government. Take, for instance, the Founding Fathers, who in America are considered as the greatest patriots there are for the United States. While Americans hold these people in high esteem, across the ocean, the people of the UK for a long time considered the Founding Fathers as traitors and terrorist who defied the colonial power of Great Britain. The opinion on whether someone is a patriot or not depends on the critic’s point of view, and generally those who are viewed as patriots are those who support the current and popular governing body of an area. When looking at the example of Martin Luther King, a civil rights activist who is today widely considered a patriot, it is clear that the government’s eventual approval of his movement is what helped him earn that title.…

Is the American Dream really what people want? People shouldn’t have to want the American Dream and should have their own choice in how they live their own lives. When people make a decision in their lives that should have a say in it and how things will go down. This wasn’t the case of many people during both World War 1 & 2 because of how harsh the country would be at all times or even when they started to settle things would go south quickly. The US before Pearl Harbor was in a good position in WW2 because of how much we were making and how little tragedies we had.…
