In a 2010 Australian study, the myth that children growing up in lgbt+ homes were more likely to have more mental issues than children with heterosexual parents, was proved wrong. They found that children of lgbt+ homes obtained a healthy and equal amount of self esteem and they spent the same amount of time with their families as children growing up to heterosexual parents. Children from lgbt+ homes are not corrupt, though they are seen as different from children with heterosexual parents which. They may be more prone to bullying due to what society thinks or children and parents who are heterosexual that show prejudice against these children and their families. That is the fault of societal norms, not lgbt+ parents.

They grow up in a family who almost guarantees that they will be accepted no matter what or who they are. The common myth is that kids are more likely to be homosexual if their parents are, but that would make no sense seeing as it is obviously not a choice whether someone is gay or straight or anywhere in between. Children with homosexual parents often feel much more safe to come out as a member of the lgbt+ community if they have parents apart of the same community as well because they know that they will be accepted.
