Why Did You Choose Neptnite As My Mineral?

Decent Essays
The mineral I chose to select was Neptunite, because I really like the color of it. The Mineral Galleries said that it was very rare, and that it had wonderful deposits at San Benito County in California. I like rare things and I really like California, so those two factors also helped me choose Neptunite as my mineral. Neptunite has a monoclinic crystal system. Neptunite is also prismatic. Neptunite has a reddish brown streak and has a hardness of

Black grains of biotite and white grains of plagioclase are dominant in the hand sample. We also see signs of myrmekite forming within this facies. Since this facies consists of considerably smaller grains than the surrounding units it is safe to assume the magma that formed this facies rose to the surface at a faster pace which did not allow the crystals to grow as large as the rest of the…

Adakite always contains an abundance of plagioclase. With the exception of high magnesium adakite, amphibole is also a common component. Clinopyroxene, othopyroxene, biotite, and opaques may also be present, but ultimately plagioclase and amphiboles compose the primary adakite mineral assemblage, (Defant and Drummond,…

Mineral that are in flatbread are iron, zinc, calcium and iodine. Iron is mostly added in to wheat flour in countries where there is a high occurrence of iron deficiency and where flatbread is eaten the most. One of those places is the Middle East where there was a high prevalence of people who were deficient of iron. Zinc is also another mineral that was deficient among people and to decrease the occurrence of zinc deficiency, the mineral was added to the flour used to make flatbread. However, adding zinc to the flour reported that the color of the flour changed when it was put in.…

Tungsten is considered a strategic mineral because it is used in many ways. Tungsten has a high heat resistance; therefore, it has applications in things such as filaments in light bulbs, heating elements of heaters and furnaces, and if combined to make an alloy, it can be used in aircraft engines. It also is used often in artistic ways, like in pottery, particularly for a yellow tint, and can be substituted for gold and platinum in jewelry, wedding bands for example, because it is hypoallergenic and has a hardness of 7.5-8, so it is scratch-resistant. It also has a very high density, comparable to gold, as well as the highest melting point of any pure metal. Tungsten is mainly found in the wolfram group which includes ferberite, wolframite…

Introduction Brahmaputra River, the peculiar drainage pattern of large Southeast Asian rivers, reflects a complicated tectonic history of crustal deformation in the Himalaya and river re-organization. In general, the Himalayas are divided into three tectono-lithologic domains: the Lower Himalayas, the Higher Himalayas and the Tethys Himalayas (Amano and Taira, 1992); surprisingly this river flows through over these three domains (Fig.1). The mineral assemblages are correlated with these subdivisions of the Himalayas on the basis of the similarity between the inferred geology from mineral assemblages and each provenance-geology. The diversity of detrital mineral assemblages is particularly prominent in modern and ancient siliciclastic sequences of river sediments. The value of the technique lies not only in the number of possible minerals, but also in that many of them have petrogenetic parageneses that positively identify the involvement of particular parent rocks.…
