From 1914 to 1918, a Great War was fought. In Europe, the Allies (England, France, and Russia) fought against the Central Powers (Germany, Austria-Hungary, Bulgaria, and the Ottoman Empire). World War I was kickstarted by the assassination of Archduke Ferdinand of Austria by a Serbian. However, there were many more reasons for such a major war. World War I was caused by the Archduke assassination, Alliances, Imperialism, and Militarism. Also, Nationalism played a big role in the production of WWI.
