Since they did not have much, that was something that motivated Marites. Her parents could not afford to send her to college because she had other brothers and sisters. “My sister married a German and she also lives in Germany. She ended up earning her nursing degree in Germany. She was the one who sent me to nursing school,” Marites said. “I stayed in school dormitory and I lived off of noodles and peanut butter sandwiches. All I did was study, study, study! Did not go out much with my dorm mates because I was too focused,” Marites said. After she graduated from college, she got a job in her hospital whle reviewing her board exam. She passed it and continued to work in her county until she started applying abroad through an agency for two years then she moved to the U.S.
The college she attended was the University of Santo Tomas Manila Phils. Marites said, “It is a prestigious college and they have high quality nursing graduates. They are known for nursing school because they have an extraordinary curriculum. They screen nursing student applicants. They have to undergo exam before the get accepted and they also have to maintain a B average. If they do not maintain a B average, the will be kicked out of
