North Vietnam and its allies fought South Vietnam and its forces in order to reunify Vietnam in the Vietnam War. Eventually, North Vietnam won the war and North and South Vietnam combined to form the Socialist Republic of Vietnam. A major force in North Vietnam was the Viet Minh. Originally created by Ho Chi Minh in 1941 to help Vietnam gain independence from the French, the Viet Minh later joined the fight against South Vietnam and the United States. Ho helped North Vietnam win the Vietnam War. His role as the leader of the Viet Minh aided North Vietnam’s victory. Additionally, Ho inspired the Vietnamese people and motivated them to support and follow him. However, some people believe that North Vietnam won because of the United States’ anti-war
