Ballet is a tough sport, there are both positives and negatives and there are lots of sacrifices.Many can’t cope with all the things they have to sacrifice and give up to be a successful ballerina but those that do sacrifice these things are usually the best ballerinas. An example is hippies and how mainstream society did not accept their subculture and what they were about. Ballet on the other hand is accepted by mainstream society. I think ballet is accepted because it is professional, formal and expresses culture.it has lots of history to it and French terminology. It is formal and presentable and is presented with high difficulty and skill and has many technical elements and requires focus and hard work and talent. Since ballet is an art, I don't see why mainstream society would have a problem with ballet.
